Strasburg Does it all for Nationals to finally beat the O's
Stephen Strasburg was the Nationals today in Washington. The team, after losing two games in a row to a visiting Orioles team, was desperately trying to avoid being swept at home. Strasburg delivered.
The Nationals won a 9-5 decision today after Strasburg pitched five innings, chalked up eight strike outs and yes folks, hit a home run. If only the Nationals had five more of this guy.
Strasburg was pulled after complaining of some tightness in his bicep. Manager Davey Johnson said he would have pulled him immediately if Strasburg had complained earlier, but says the ace pitcher isn't a complainer, so they didn't know until later in the game.
Still, the Nationals managed to avoid a sweep to their cross-beltway rivals and did so decisively. The rest of the team pitched in tremendously.
Espinosa, Desmond and Harper each had 2 hits with 2 RBIs, and Flores and Espinosa added a homerun each to the tally.
With the way the series had been decided the previous two games and the way the team responded today, it sure looks like there might be something to this team afterall. Let's hope they can stay healthy and stay hungry.
