Redskins Sign Tampa Bay Castoff Tanard Jackson

The Washington Redskins have made another bold and mild move today in Free Agency!  Yes, they have officially signed 26 year old, Tanard Jackson!  That Tanard Jackson.  What's that?  Who the hell is Tanard Jackson?  That's a fine question to ask, let's see if we can't find out a litte bit about him, shall we?

Tanard Jackson has been in the NFL since 2007, and until this off season, all of those years have been spent in Tampa Bay.  Under previous coach Raheem Morris, Jackson has been a bit of a nuisance.  Getting into trouble with a drug suspension, Morris stood by him.  Last season, Jackson suffered a shoulder injury and the official reason for his release is that he failed a team physical.

Frankly, I believe they let him go because he was a Morris guy.  Now that Tampa has a new coaching staff in place, they want to weed out the old guard and bring in their own players.  Not much new there.  Happens all the time.  However, with Raheem Morris joining the Redskins ever changing cast of coaches, he lobbied to get Jackson signed.

Today, that became a reality.  Jackson is reuinted with Morris and the Redskins will be the ones to suffer for it.  Unless, of course, Mr. Jackson has learned from his mistakes in the past and makes a concerted effort to grow up, mature and be a part of the team.  I'm not entirely sure he can do that.

So now, in addition to Merriweather, Griffin, Williams and Torrence, we have Jackson to add to the mix at the Safety position, recently vacated by LaRon Landry.

It's gonna get interesting.  That's not necessarily a positive thing, as train wrecks are inherently interesting without having a single positive thing to recommend them.  Guess we'll have to wait and see.
