The Redskins have announced the signing of sixth round picks Alfred Morris and Tom Compton. They've also signed five undrafted free agents including:
- Brian Hernandez - WR - Utah
- Delvin Johynson - DL - Marshall
- Samuel Kirklan - WR - Kent State
- Nick Martinez - OL - Oklahoma State
- Beau Reliford - TE - Florida State
If you ask me, this is a curious group of players to sign. Two more wide receivers and another Tight End? Why? There's already a bottleneck at both positions with just the guys slated to make the starting roster. Is it possible that they're looking for a diamond in the rough? Trying to build some depth on the practice squad? I just don't understand. Offensive line and Defensive Line, yes. That makes sense to me, you're lacking depth at those spots. Hell, even defensive secondary makes more sense if you're being honest. But Wide Receiver? I, just don't get it. Why stock up on a position that's already overflowing with talent? If you think you might find the next Jerry Rice, you're probably just wasting your time. Let's focus a little more on the thin positions and work our way towards having an abundance of something for the sake of "trying them out", what do ya say?
