Today we'll get our first real look at RG3 as the leader of the Redskins offense, as the Redskins begin their first organized team activities. The media will be on hand to capture every single movement, you can be sure.
With this session being voluntary, the hope is that all of the veteran players will report and we'll get a chance to see Griffin throwing to Garcon, Moragan and Moss. Developing chemistry with his receivers will likely be the big story from now until the season opener against New Orleans.
Some lingering injuries will keep Tim Hightower (knee), Kory Lichtensteiger (knee) and Leonard Hankerson (hip) on the sidelines watching for now.
This will be the first of 10 OTAs the team will hold between now and June 7th. Then they will hold a 3 day minicamp the week of June 11th before heading back home until the start of training camp. The camp schedule has not yet been announced.
These OTAs are voluntary for all players, but the minicamp is mandatory. Players will wear helmets, but no other padding as contact is prohibited during OTAs.
It's in the best interests of the receivers, RG3 and the entire team that as many veterans show up and get acquainted now so they can become comfortable with each other, and build connections before contact is allowed. I sincerely hope we see all of the offense on hand to participate.
Truthfully, 100% team turnout is the best case scenario, especially for the defensive secondary where there are a lot of unanswered questions at safety.
