Nationals take O's to 11 innings, come up short
In the first round of the Battle of the Beltway, the Orioles came away victorious. The Orioles scored early and then not again for 10 more innings.
Nationals pitcher, Edwin Jackson had a pretty good night all things considered, retiring 14 of the next 15 hitters he faced. He wound up with a no-decision, going eight innings and allowing a run on five hits.
It wasn't until the sixth inning that Nationals Ian Desmond hit his sixth home run of the season, tying the game.
Again, there was very little actiong from either treams' bats until the top of the 11th inning, with a home run by Nick Markakis.
If this is how you're going to lose a game, there's very little to be ashamed of. A few better hits, a lucky bounce and this game could've easily gone the other way.
The loss drops the Nationals to 23-16 on the season. Game two takes place tonight, at 7:15pm. The Nationals will be looking to even the score.
