I Want To Trade In Those Extra 5.3 Seconds Now

During the Washington Capitals last playoff series against the Boston Bruins, the Caps, because of a clock error due to “crowd noise”, played an extra 5.3 seconds of regulation hockey.   As a fan of the Caps, it was a maddening, gut wrenching and terrifying 5.3 seconds of playoff hockey.   Fortunately, everything turned out OK and the Caps won the game.

During game 5 of their playoff series against the New York Rangers, the Caps once again found themselves trying to hold off an opponent during the last, maddening, gut wrenching, and terrifying seconds of regulation play and win the game.  Unfortunately, everything did not turn out OK and the stinky Rangers got a sleazy goal during the last 6 seconds of the game to tie the score and ultimately win the game in OT.

So, now I’d like to trade in those extra 5.3 seconds we already played.   Game 5 was a game we should have won.  But just like all other Caps playoff games, everything seems to come down to the final maddening, gut wrenching and terrifying seconds of each and every game and yes, each and every series. 

This is seems to be the way all caps games are going.  12 playoff games, 11 decided by only one goal, 6 decided in OT and if the Caps are to win this series, a second straight 7 game playoff round.

Yes, this is truly the best maddening, gut wrenching and terrifying hockey ever played and this is why we love to watch!
